“Waterproof” is often used too loosely in wholesale product descriptions. A buyer needs to know whether a claim is a stated rating for the exact model, a supplier shorthand, or merely an impression from the product’s appearance. This guide does not turn a published label into a universal cleaning or immersion instruction; it explains how to verify the claim before using it in a retail listing or private-label package.
Start with the exact model and claim
Record the JW-S model, version, date and wording of the proposed claim. JWELL’s published pages show different stated ratings: JW-S01 lists IPX4 Waterproof; JW-S07 lists IPX7; and JW-S84 lists IP65. These labels are not interchangeable and should not be copied from one product to another. Some models have a rating marked “To Confirm” or have no rating shown; leave those claims unapproved until the model-specific evidence is available.

Separate a code from a use instruction
An IP code is a standardized ingress-protection designation, but the exact code and test conditions matter. An IP65 statement and an IPX7 statement do not mean the same thing, and neither should be expanded into a blanket promise about every cleaning practice, charging-port condition or length of exposure. Request the exact rating wording, test method, report identification, tested configuration and any use limitations for the selected version. The responsible team should review the proposed wording against the destination market’s requirements before artwork is printed.
Check how the product is configured for testing
Ask whether the sample and tested version have the same enclosure, seals, charging contacts, buttons and any removable cover. For a magnetic-charging model such as JW-S63, the published charging method and rating are model-specific; they do not establish a rating for another magnetic connector. A remote control, cable or charging case may have a different protection status from the main device. The quotation and manual should say exactly which component the statement covers.
Validate the claim through the approval chain
During sample evaluation, check the operating and cleaning instructions for internal consistency. Before bulk production, confirm that any component or seal changes trigger a review of the claim. At final inspection, verify that the retail box and manual carry the approved wording for the approved version. A visual inspection alone cannot demonstrate the claimed ingress rating. - What exact rating, if any, is confirmed for this model and revision?
- Which component was tested: main device, controller, case, or another part?
- What current test evidence and instructions support the proposed retail claim?
- Would a changed charger, housing, seal, button or packaging statement require retesting or new approval?
- Which use and cleaning limitations must appear in the manual for the target market?
