An Amazon private-label project needs two approval tracks. The first is the product and packaging project with the manufacturer. The second is the seller’s current Amazon marketplace, listing, barcode, prep, labeling, and inbound-shipment process. These tracks must meet before production is released.
JWELL may support shipment to buyer-designated FBA destinations where the buyer provides the required shipping and labeling information. JWELL does not guarantee Amazon account approval, listing approval, category approval, or sales performance.
Use current official Amazon instructions
Amazon requirements can vary by marketplace, product, fulfillment route, and seller-account configuration, and they can change. The seller should verify every operational requirement in the current Amazon Seller Central Help Hub or the equivalent official help center for the target marketplace.
Seller Central may require sign-in. Save the applicable help-page references, shipment workflow, and seller-generated labels with the order file. Do not rely on an old blog screenshot or ask the manufacturer to guess the seller’s current setup.
1. Choose a product that fits the channel
Start with a focused product brief: marketplace, target customer, category, intended retail position, target landed cost, launch quantity, and differentiation. Compare existing models before committing to custom development.
Use the JWELL product catalog to shortlist products with clear model-specific data. Evaluate dimensions, weight, charging method, battery information, accessories, package size, functions, colors, and available customization. Product information should match the sample and the listing content.
2. Review samples as an e-commerce operator
Samples are available for selected products. In-stock samples can often be dispatched within approximately three working days, while timing varies by model and availability.
Test more than the basic function. Record:
- Exact model and sample version
- Product dimensions, weight, appearance, controls, and accessories
- Charging and indicator behavior
- Packaging protection during parcel handling
- Instructions and customer-service questions the manual should answer
- Photo and video angles needed for the listing
- Any product, packaging, or content corrections
The selected physical sample should be linked to the final specifications and content. Listing copy should not borrow a feature from a different model.
3. Define private-label branding
Logo methods may include silk printing, laser engraving or etching, and other model-dependent methods. The correct method depends on the product material, surface, structure, and logo design.
For selected existing models, basic logo or product customization may start from around 50 pieces. Exact MOQ remains model- and project-specific. Confirm logo size, area, method, color, artwork, sample, and durability expectations before production.
4. Develop marketplace-ready packaging
Packaging must protect the product, support the brand, and reserve space for operational labels. Options may include a printed paper box, gift box, insert, label, manual, barcode or sticker, and outer-carton marks.
Customized packaging may start from around 200 pieces for selected projects, depending on structure, printing process, and specifications. Review the packaging checklist before artwork approval.
For the target Amazon marketplace, the seller should provide current instructions covering product packaging, any prep category, label placement, suffocation or other warnings where applicable, barcode treatment, and carton requirements. The factory should receive these as controlled files, not informal screenshots with unclear dates.
5. Confirm barcode and label responsibility
The buyer controls seller-account identifiers and should confirm whether a manufacturer barcode, Amazon barcode, transparency code, or other label is required for the specific product and enrollment. The manufacturer should not create or substitute these identifiers without written buyer instruction.
Before printing or application, confirm:
- Identifier type and source
- Which unit or package receives the label
- Exact label file and revision
- Placement and orientation
- Whether another barcode must be covered
- Print quality and scan test
- Quantity of spare labels if required
6. Prepare product images and content
Product images may be available for approved models and projects for buyer e-commerce use. Usage terms and the right to modify or redistribute assets should be discussed; unrestricted copyright ownership should not be assumed.
The seller remains responsible for ensuring listing images and text meet the target marketplace’s current policies. Create a content pack from the approved product:
- Main product view on an appropriate background
- Additional angles and included accessories
- Dimensions and function explanations based on confirmed data
- Charging, controls, care, and package contents
- Brand story and packaging views
- Claims and symbols supported by the model-specific file
7. Approve production information
Before production, combine the product and Amazon workflow into one order pack:
- Product model, specification, and approved sample
- Quantity by color and destination
- Logo file, method, and position
- Packaging dieline and approved artwork
- Manual, labels, and barcode files
- Product and carton label instructions
- Pack quantity and outer-carton marks
- Available battery and transport information
- Inspection checklist
- Shipment plan and designated FBA destination
A typical OEM/ODM production reference is approximately 15–25 days depending on the model, customization, packaging, artwork approval, sample confirmation, quantity, and production schedule. This is not a fixed date and does not include all freight time.
8. Conduct a pre-shipment review
Agree inspection points before the order finishes. The review can include product appearance, function sampling, quantity, color, logo, accessories, packaging, manual, unit labels, carton labels, carton condition, and available documents.
Ask the inspector to use the same label files and shipment plan that the seller approved. A correct product with the wrong FBA label can still become an operational problem.
9. Prepare shipment to FBA
The seller should create or approve the inbound-shipment workflow in its account and provide the current destination, shipment identifiers, unit labels, box labels, pallet labels where applicable, and carrier instructions. Confirm how many cartons are in the shipment and which label belongs to each carton.
Also confirm:
- Incoterm and freight payer
- Pickup address and handover date
- Carton dimensions and weights
- Battery transport information and carrier acceptance
- Customs documents and importer responsibilities
- Delivery appointment or carrier requirements where applicable
- Contingency if Amazon changes the destination or shipment plan
Amazon’s operational instructions do not replace customs, transport, product-safety, tax, or destination-market obligations. Buyers should use qualified advisers for those areas.
10. Keep a buyer document file
Maintain an organized project record containing:
- Approved product specification and sample record
- Material, charging, and battery information available for the model
- Packaging dieline, artwork, manual, and label approvals
- Barcode source and scan confirmation
- Available test reports or other model-specific documents
- Inspection report and production photos
- Commercial invoice and packing list
- Freight and transport information
- Amazon shipment plan and seller-generated labels
- Version history for listing images and product claims
Read the buyer document guide and review the quality process for model-specific preparation.
